Computex event began on 23rd of May. AMD was the first to share news about upcoming products.

**AMD Ryzen 7000 Series CPUs Specs**
AMD will build Ryzen 7000 series on Zen 4 architecture. It will be the first AMD CPU series on an AM5 socket and the first CPU built-in 5nm technology. AM5 will support up to 170w of power delivery natively and support DDR5 memory and PCIe 5 interface. Unlike Intel 12th gen processors, Ryzen 7000 CPUs will not be DDR4 compatible.
In terms of I/O capabilities, AM5 offers 24 PCIe5 lanes, up to 14 high-speed USB ports, 6E WiFi support, and up to 4 HDMI 2.1 ports.
The CPUs will not have pins anymore. They will be present on the motherboard just like on Intel systems. All AM4 compatible coolers will also be compatible with the new AM5 socket! We expect new brackets might be required, depending on the cooler. All Ryzen 7000 series will have integrated RDNA2 graphics processors.

**Performance**
AMD CEO Dr.Lisa Su claims Ryzen 7000 series will have more than 15% performance uplift in single-threaded tasks, even more in multi-core productivity tasks. Dr.Lisa Su presented two demos showcasing an unknown Ryzen 7000 model. The first demo showed 16 core Ryzen 7000 CPU running the Ghostwire Tokyo video game, revealing CPU clock speeds of over 5.5GHZ. That is a significant improvement over Ryzen 5000 series and would explain >15% single thread uplift claims. The second demo contained the same Ryzen 7000 CPU put against Intel 12900k in a Blender rendering task. AMD CPU finished rendering the image 31% faster than Intel 12900k. Impressive.

**Ryzen 7000 Compatible Motherboards**
As mentioned earlier, all X670 and B650 motherboards only support DDR5 memory. X670E (extreme) will be dedicated to extreme overclocking and feature maximum PCIe5.0 lanes for any device. X670 will be a high-end variant for moderate overclocking and will have PCIe5.0 lanes for storage and GPU. B650 motherboards are for the mainstream consumer, featuring PCIe 5.0 only for storage. The rest of the hardware will run on the PCIe4.0 interface. AMD partners with all major motherboard manufacturers. We can expect models from Gigabyte, Asus, Asrock, and MSI to be ready when Ryzen 7000 hits the market. Asus has already announced its top-end AM5 motherboard, [ROG Crosshair X670E](https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-crosshair/rog-crosshair-x670e-extreme-model/). AMD & its partners will reveal more models in the coming weeks.

**Ryzen 7000 Series Release Date**
New AMD CPUs will premiere in Fall (September-November) this year. No specific date has been given.

**AMD Reveals SmartAccess Storage**
Traditional game loading takes a lot of your PC power to decompress game data. Most of that data is decompressed by the CPU. SmartAccess Storage offloads much work from the CPU by using GPU instead. It also uses the full potential of modern NVMe Gen 4 SSD speeds. That results in nearly instant loading times in games. Very similar technology is already used in PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. Only new games programmed to support SmartAccess Storage will benefit from it.

**NVMe PCIe5.0 SSDs**
AMD collaborates with Phison and Micron to deliver [NVMe PCIe5.0](https://community.amd.com/t5/business/amd-socket-am5-and-next-gen-storage-world-s-first-pcie-gen-5/ba-p/525742) drives in line with the release of Ryzen 7000 CPUs. New drives will support the PCIe5.0 interface up to 60% faster than current gen4 NVMe drives.

**Ryzen 6000 Laptops**
Ryzen 6000 mobile premiered in February with only a handful of laptops available. Finally, AMD confirmed that more models are coming as we speak. ASUS ZenBook S 13 OLED, updated this year with the AMD Ryzen™ 7 6800U, Delivers 45% faster graphics and 27% quicker 3D rendering vs. intel Core i7-1260P. Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 PRO X will feature eight-core Ryzen 6800HS and RDNA2 680m iGPU for ultimate productivity and AAA gaming. Release in late June 2022. Ryzen 6000 series laptops will be packed with [AMD SmartShift](https://www.amd.com/en/technologies/smartshift) and SmartAccess Memory. Both technologies should increase gaming performance even further.

**AMD "Mendocino" CPUs**
AMD very briefly announced their entry-level processors based on older Zen 2 architecture with up to four cores and eight processing threads, with integrated RDNA 2 graphics, and up to 15W TDP. Expected more than 10 hours of battery life. "Mendocino" will primarily be used in laptops and notebooks for office and educational purposes.

That is all Dr. Lisa Su revealed at Computex 2022 keynote. It's exciting to see AMD not slowing down with innovation and performance gains. We are excited to hear more about Ryzen 7000 CPUs in the upcoming months.
