An official presentation in Poland by TV manufacturer "**TCL Technology**" predicts next Sony and Microsoft consoles will be due between **2023 and 2024**. **Grand Theft Auto 6** could be a PS5 Pro launch title. TCL revealed suggested dates while discussing the console release period. The company believes upcoming consoles will have graphical power similar to the **AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT** - a forthcoming GPU AMD release this year.
Consoles will be able to output 8K/60fps image and render natively at 4K/60 or 4K/120, even with ray tracing on. For comparison, PS4 and Xbox Series X|S render images at 1440p and can output 4K/120 or 4K/60 shots, although only in a handful of games that run natively. If true, we are looking at a two to three times uplift in performance against current-gen consoles. Most likely the equivalent of **a PC with RTX 3090 GPU**.

The photo above shows that next-gen consoles would be gen 9.5, suggesting those will be mid-gen upgrades rather than an entirely new generation of consoles. It's unclear whether TCL has solid grounds for these claims. PS4 and Xbox One came out in 2013, followed by mid-gen upgrades four years later. Therefore, TCL may be right in their predictions. After all, mid-gen upgrades do not require much time and effort as creating next-gen hardware with entirely new features and design.

We believe Sony might align the PS5 Pro release with GTA 6. Rockstar is a very ambitious studio, and GTA 6 is their biggest project yet, awaited by millions of fans worldwide. We know the game will be more significant in scope and much more graphically advanced. Dynamic weather, global ray tracing, advanced physics, and an entire world rendered on the fly are only some features of GTA 6. A perfect game to showcase the new console's power. It definitely would be underwhelming making a game so advanced and not having the hardware to show its full glory, apart from high-end PCs. It is also a great sales push for Sony. While undoubtedly GTA 6 will work on PlayStation 5, all its features and graphical marvels will be reserved for PS5 Pro, giving players an incentive to upgrade.
**Microsoft Confirms Development On New Xbox Consoles**
Microsoft has revealed it is working on brand new consoles. Including mid and next-gen upgrades. Liz Hamren, CVP of Gaming Experiences and Platforms, confirms that Microsoft is working on new consoles at the press video briefing. "We're already hard at work on new hardware and platforms, some of which won't come to light for years. But even as we build for the future, we're focused on extending the Xbox experience to more devices today so we can reach more people." That confirms mid-gen Xbox Series X|S upgrades and the next generation of Xbox. If you're interested in PS6 and new Xbox news, we have some more information to come soon.
