**Sony hints at 2027/2028 for PlayStation 6 Release Date**
Sony and Microsoft are going back and forth about acquiring Activision Blizzard for $69 billion, set to close in March 2023. In a response to Microsoft, Sony has mentioned the next generation of PlayStation consoles whilst explaining how their profits will be damaged by losing access to the Call of Duty franchise. The document (CMA) does not specify an exact date for the release of PS6 as it's redacted. However, Sony does mention once the Activision acquisition is complete, they would lose access to Call of Duty and other Activision titles during 2027, indicating the release date of PS6 being 2027/2028.
"Microsoft has offered to continue making Activision's games available on PlayStation only until 2027," says Sony. "Likewise, in public comments just on October 26, Microsoft said that it plans to offer Call of Duty on PlayStation only as long as it makes sense. A period until 2027 - or some other (possibly shorter) time that Microsoft unilaterally determines makes sense to Microsoft is badly inadequate. **By the time SIE launched the next generation of its PlayStation console** (which is likely to occur around REDACTED), it would have lost access to Call of Duty and other Activision titles, making it extremely vulnerable to consumer switching and subsequent degradation in its competitiveness."

**Microsoft Expects Rockstar Games to Release GTA 6 During 2024**
You heard that right. Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to be released in 2024, according to Microsoft. Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games are yet to make an announcement or a teaser for the release date of GTA 6, but it seems Microsoft knows more or nothing.
"Take-Two Interactive which publishes Grand Theft Auto V, remains many years after its release in 2013, and Red Dead Redemption 2. **The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to be released in 2024**. Both games are considered by major digital storefronts, such as Steam, to have shooter elements. Grand Theft Auto V is also available on PlayStation, whereas Red Dead Redemption is also available on PlayStation and Stadia."
In the statement above by Microsoft, the company seems to be discussing how games (by Take-Two Interactive in this case) are available on multiple platforms rather than being exclusive, one of the most successful video game titles ever. What Microsoft meant in defence of PlayStation accusing how Call of Duty would be exclusive to Xbox is that there are still other major video games that'll be available on the PlayStation platform. Phil Spencer has already announced previously about not having the intention to make Call of Duty an Xbox-exclusive game, as he and the company believes the success of the franchise relies on its availability across multiple platforms.
