[Tom Henderson](https://twitter.com/_Tom_Henderson_/status/1537104878899699716) has shared on Twitter that Sony is preparing new "professional" controllers for PlayStation 5. For anyone wondering, **Tom Henderson** is a freelance gaming journalist and frequent leaker. He is a well-known industry insider with access to reliable sources in the business.

**Reveal Date Possibly in June**

The controllers will be an upgraded version of PS5's DualSense rather than a complete redesign. They will compete against Microsoft's equivalent professional controller, the [Xbox Elite Series 2](https://amzn.to/3xZsQI4) controller. The PS5 Pro controllers are expected to be revealed this month, possibly at the next **State of Play** showcase. Remember that this is Henderson's speculation based on anonymous information he received. Tom tweets:

“To be absolutely clear – I do not know when the reveal or release is. I am speculating it could be at the end of the month based on what I’m hearing about “some” hardware announcements. I’m hoping to hear what these are by the end of the week.”

**What's New?**

The new controller will have a similar, if not the same core design, to the current [PS5 DualSense](https://amzn.to/39vkyhQ) controller. However, there will be critical differences like **removable stick units**, which can be swapped in and out using the buttons below the analog sticks.

**Trigger Stops**

**Rear Buttons** - described by Henderson as "flappy paddles". Most likely a similar design to what we can see in the Xbox Elite Wireless Controllers. Tom Henderson claims to have pictures of the controller prototype, which came from a source that wants to stay anonymous. Tom did not publicize any images.

That would be a first for Sony in the history of PlayStation. Sony has typically only released one version of its controller per console, with revisions along with its lifespan. To introduce a standalone line is a big deal - and indeed points to Sony's emerging PC plans.

These rumors have resurfaced previous reports about a potential [PlayStation 5 Pro](https://stock-checker.com/articles/ps5-pro-and-new-xbox-to-release-202324-264563.html) console hitting our shelves soon.
